Synopsis

An IDS/IPS solution running on the remote host is affected by a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability.

Description

The version of OISF Suricata installed on the remote host is 8.x prior to 8.0.4. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability:

- Use of the 'tls.alpn' rule keyword can cause Suricata to crash with a NULL dereference. (CVE-2026-31931)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Suricata to version 8.0.4 or higher.
