Kibana 8.x < 8.19.12 / 9.x < 9.2.6 / 9.3.x < 9.3.1 Missing Authorization (ESA-2026-19)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 303587

Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Kibana installed on the remote host is prior to 8.19.12, 9.2.6, or 9.3.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ESA-2026-19 advisory.

- Missing Authorization (CWE-862) in Kibana's server-side Detection Rule Management can lead to Unauthorized Endpoint Response Action Configuration (host isolation, process termination, and process suspension) via CAPEC-1 (Accessing Functionality Not Properly Constrained by ACLs). This requires an authenticated attacker with rule management privileges. (CVE-2026-26939)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to Kibana version 8.19.12, 9.2.6, 9.3.1 or later.
