Unity Linux 20.1050e / 20.1060e / 20.1070e Security Update: gimp (UTSA-2026-006281)

high Nessus Plugin ID 303339

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2026-006281 advisory.

A flaw was found in GIMP. An integer overflow vulnerability exists in the GIMP Despeckle plug-in. The issue occurs due to unchecked multiplication of image dimensions, such as width, height, and bytes-per- pixel (img_bpp), which can result in allocating insufficient memory and subsequently performing out-of- bounds writes. This issue could lead to heap corruption, a potential denial of service (DoS), or arbitrary code execution in certain scenarios.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected gimp package.
