Cockpit < 2.13.5 SQLi (GHSA-7x5c-vfhj-9628)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 303195

Synopsis

A content management application running on the remote host is affected by a SQL injection vulnerability.

Description

The version of Cockpit CMS running on the remote web server is prior to 2.13.5. It is, therefore, affected by a SQL injection vulnerability in the MongoLite Aggregation Optimizer.

- An unsanitized field name in the toJsonExtractRaw() method in lib/MongoLite/Aggregation/Optimizer.php allows an attacker with a valid read-only API key to inject arbitrary SQL via the /api/content/aggregate/{model} endpoint. Successful exploitation may bypass the published-content filter and extract unauthorized data from the underlying SQLite content database. (CVE-2026-31891)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Cockpit version 2.13.5 or later.
