Synopsis

The remote host has an installation of SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog NG that is affected by a sensitive information disclosure vulnerability.

Description

According to its self-reported version, the SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog NG installation on the remote host is version 1.3 or earlier. It is, therefore, affected by a cleartext storage of sensitive information vulnerability.

Sensitive data could be exposed to non-privileged users in a configuration file. Exploitation requires local access to the computer with a low-privileged account to access the configuration file containing the sensitive data.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog NG to version 1.3.1 or later.
