Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty running on the remote host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability as referenced in the 7258224 advisory.

 - IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty could allow a privileged user to upload a zip archive containing path traversal sequences resulting in an overwrite of files leading to arbitrary code execution. CWE:
 CWE-22: Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') (CVE-2025-14914)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty version 26.0.0.2 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH69485.
