Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-7986-1 advisory.

 Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel. An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system. This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems:

 - Ceph distributed file system;

 - JFFS2 file system;

 - Timer subsystem;

 - USB sound devices; (CVE-2024-26689, CVE-2024-53197, CVE-2024-57850, CVE-2025-38352)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel package.
