Synopsis

The remote Azure Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of kernel installed on the remote Azure Linux 3.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2024-49862 advisory.

 - In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powercap: intel_rapl: Fix off by one in get_rpi() The rp->priv->rpi array is either rpi_msr or rpi_tpmi which have NR_RAPL_PRIMITIVES number of elements. Thus the > needs to be >= to prevent an off by one access. (CVE-2024-49862)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
