Azure Linux 3.0 Security Update: kernel (CVE-2025-38191)

Synopsis

The remote Azure Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of kernel installed on the remote Azure Linux 3.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2025-38191 advisory.

 - In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix null pointer dereference in destroy_previous_session If client set ->PreviousSessionId on kerberos session setup stage, NULL pointer dereference error will happen. Since sess->user is not set yet, It can pass the user argument as NULL to destroy_previous_session. sess->user will be set in ksmbd_krb5_authenticate(). So this patch move calling destroy_previous_session() after ksmbd_krb5_authenticate(). (CVE-2025-38191)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
