Azure Linux 3.0 Security Update: syslinux (CVE-2012-3425)

Synopsis

The remote Azure Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of syslinux installed on the remote Azure Linux 3.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2012-3425 advisory.

 - The png_push_read_zTXt function in pngpread.c in libpng 1.0.x before 1.0.58, 1.2.x before 1.2.48, 1.4.x before 1.4.10, and 1.5.x before 1.5.10 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a large avail_in field value in a PNG image. (CVE-2012-3425)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
