Azure Linux 3.0 Security Update: kernel (CVE-2025-38422)

Synopsis

The remote Azure Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of kernel installed on the remote Azure Linux 3.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2025-38422 advisory.

 - In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: lan743x: Modify the EEPROM and OTP size for PCI1xxxx devices Maximum OTP and EEPROM size for hearthstone PCI1xxxx devices are 8 Kb and 64 Kb respectively. Adjust max size definitions and return correct EEPROM length based on device. Also prevent out-of-bound read/write. (CVE-2025-38422)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
