critical Nessus Plugin ID 291401

Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2010-480:08 advisory.

XULRunner provides the XUL Runtime environment for Gecko applications.
Security issues fixed with this release:
CVE-2010-3765 Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x through 3.5.14 and 3.6.x through 3.6.11, when JavaScript is enabled, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via vectors related to nsCSSFrameConstructor::ContentAppended, the appendChild method, incorrect index tracking, and the creation of multiple frames, which triggers memory corruption, as exploited in the wild in October 2010 by the Belmoo malware.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected xulrunner package.
