Curl 7.33.0 < 8.18.0 OAuth2 Bearer Token Leak (CVE-2025-14524)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 291359

Synopsis

The remote host has a program that is affected by an information disclosure vulnerability.

Description

The version of curl installed on the remote host is missing a security update. It is, therefore, affected by an information disclosure vulnerability.

- When an OAuth2 bearer token is used for an HTTP(S) transfer that performs a cross-protocol redirect to a second URL using IMAP, LDAP, POP3, or SMTP, curl might wrongly pass the token to the new target host. This occurs if the user has explicitly enabled redirects to these protocols and the target URL contains a username component.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Curl to version 8.18.0 or later
