Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2013-108:01 advisory.

 The FreeType engine is a free and portable font rendering engine, developed to provide advanced font support for a variety of platforms and environments. FreeType is a library which can open and manages font files as well as efficiently load, hint and render individual glyphs. FreeType is not a font server or a complete text-rendering library.
 Security issues fixed with this release:
 CVE-2012-5669 The _bdf_parse_glyphs function in FreeType before 2.4.11 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via vectors related to BDF fonts and an incorrect calculation that triggers an out-of-bounds read.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected freetype, freetype-demos and / or freetype-devel packages.
