high Nessus Plugin ID 289670

Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2014-541:01 advisory.

Description :
Automake is a tool for automatically generating `Makefile.in' files compliant with the GNU Coding Standards.
You should install Automake if you are developing software and would like to use its ability to automatically generate GNU standard Makefiles. If you install Automake, you will also need to install GNU's Autoconf package.
Security issues fixed with this release:
CVE-2012-3386 The make distcheck rule in GNU Automake before 1.11.6 and 1.12.x before 1.12.2 grants world-writable permissions to the extraction directory, which introduces a race condition that allows local users to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected automake package.
