Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 4 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2013-167:02 advisory.

 Git is a fast, scalable, distributed revision control system with an unusually rich command set that provides both high-level operations and full access to internals.
 The git rpm installs the core tools with minimal dependencies. To install all git packages, including tools for integrating with other SCMs, install the git-all meta-package.
 Security issues fixed with this release:
 CVE-2013-0308 The imap-send command in GIT before 1.8.1.4 does not verify that the server hostname matches a domain name in the subject's Common Name (CN) or subjectAltName field of the X.509 certificate, which allows man-in- the-middle attackers to spoof SSL servers via an arbitrary valid certificate.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected git and / or perl-Git packages.
