Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2010-230:01 advisory.

 Core applications for the K Desktop Environment. Included are: kdm (replacement for xdm), kwin (window manager), konqueror (filemanager, web browser, ftp client, ...), konsole (xterm replacement), kpanel (application starter and desktop pager), kaudio (audio server), kdehelp (viewer for kde help files, info and man pages), kthememgr (system for managing alternate theme packages) plus other KDE components (kcheckpass, kikbd, kscreensaver, kcontrol, kfind, kfontmanager, kmenuedit).
 Security issues fixed in this release:
 CVE-2010-0436 Race condition in backend/ctrl.c in KDM in KDE Software Compilation (SC) 2.2.0 through 4.4.2 allows local users to change the permissions of arbitrary files, and consequently gain privileges, by blocking the removal of a certain directory that contains a control socket, related to improper interaction with ksm.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kdebase and / or kdebase-devel packages.
