Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 4 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2011-84:01 advisory.

 Logwatch is a customizable, pluggable log-monitoring system. It will go through your logs for a given period of time and make a report in the areas that you wish with the detail that you wish. Easy to use - works right out of the package on many systems.
 Security issues fixed with this release:
 CVE-2011-1018 logwatch.pl in Logwatch 7.3.6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a log file name, as demonstrated via a crafted username to a Samba server.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected logwatch package.
