Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the AXSA:2010-138:01 advisory.

 SystemTap is an instrumentation system for systems running Linux 2.6.
 Developers can write instrumentation to collect data on the operation of the system.
 Security issues fixed with this release:
 CVE-2009-4273 stap-server in SystemTap before 1.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in stap command-line arguments in a request.
 CVE-2010-0411 Multiple integer signedness errors in the (1) __get_argv and (2) __get_compat_argv functions in tapset/aux_syscalls.stp in SystemTap 1.1 allow local users to cause a denial of service (script crash, or system crash or hang) via a process with a large number of arguments, leading to a buffer overflow.
 Other bugs:
 - fixed some test cases that were set as executables
 - on-file flight file recording
 - added support for tracepoints
 - added log rotation
 - Add location of man pages.
 - Upstream release.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected systemtap and / or systemtap-runtime packages.
