Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 4 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2011-508:03 advisory.

 Libvirt is a C toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes). The main package includes the libvirtd server exporting the virtualization support.
 CVE-2011-2511 Integer overflow in libvirt before 0.9.3 allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (libvirtd crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted VirDomainGetVcpus RPC call that triggers memory corruption.
 Fixed bugs:
 - Fixed a performance bug in the virStorageVolCreateXMLFrom() function: running the virsh vol-create- from command on an LVM storage pool now works as expected.
 - Fixed a regression that prevented the qemu-img utility to create encrypted volumes.
 - Fixed a bug in the qemuAuditDisk() function: auditing a disk hot unplug now works as expected.
 - Fixed a segmentation fault that could happen with API running a debug process.
 - Adding an IDE disk to a virtual machine already set up with a virtio disk woudl result in the machine not booting, with the following message: No bootable disk. This has been fixed.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
