The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 4 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2012-34:01 advisory.

 Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for Web clients, supporting FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects. Unlike traditional caching software, Squid handles all requests in a single, non-blocking, I/O-driven process. Squid keeps meta data and especially hot objects cached in RAM, caches DNS lookups, supports non-blocking DNS lookups, and implements negative caching of failed requests.
 Squid consists of a main server program squid, a Domain Name System lookup program (dnsserver), a program for retrieving FTP data (ftpget), and some management and client tools.
 Security issues fixed with this release:
 CVE-2011-4096 The idnsGrokReply function in Squid before 3.1.16 does not properly free memory, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon abort) via a DNS reply containing a CNAME record that references another CNAME record that contains an empty A record.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected squid package.
