Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2009-08:01 advisory.

 D-BUS is a system for sending messages between applications. It is used both for the systemwide message bus service, and as a per-user-login-session messaging facility.
 Bug fixed:
 CVE-2008-3834 The dbus_signature_validate function in the D-bus library (libdbus) before 1.2.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application abort) via a message containing a malformed signature, which triggers a failed assertion error.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected dbus, dbus-devel and / or dbus-x11 packages.
