MiracleLinux 3 : device-mapper-multipath-0.4.7-23.2.1AXS3 (AXSA:2009-47:01)

high Nessus Plugin ID 283970

Synopsis

The remote MiracleLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote MiracleLinux 3 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the AXSA:2009-47:01 advisory.

device-mapper-multipath provides tools to manage multipath devices by instructing the device-mapper multipath kernel module what to do.
Fixed bugs:
CVE-2009-0115 multipath-tools in SUSE openSUSE 10.3 through 11.0 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 10 uses world- writable permissions for the socket file (aka /var/run/multipathd.sock), which allows local users to send arbitrary commands to the multipath daemon.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the MiracleLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected device-mapper-multipath and / or kpartx packages.
