Description

The Microsoft Azure Connected Machine Agent installation on the remote host is missing security updates. It is, therefore, affected by an elevation of privilege vulnerability (CVE-2026-21224).

- Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow a local attacker to gain SYSTEM privileges on the affected host by exploiting a flaw in how the agent handles service configuration or file permissions.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to Azure Connected Machine Agent version 1.60 or later
