IGEL OS < 11.0.0 Secure Boot bypass (CVE-2025-47827)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 282474

Synopsis

The remote IGEL OS host is affected by a Secure Boot bypass vulnerability..

Description

The version of IGEL OS running on the remote host is prior to version 11. It is, therefore, affected by a cryptographic signature verification vulnerability in the igel-flash-driver module.

An attacker could exploit this flaw to bypass Secure Boot protections. By leveraging the improper verification, a crafted root filesystem can be mounted from an unverified SquashFS image, leading to a complete compromise of the system's chain of trust.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to 11.0 or later
