Ubuntu 6.06 LTS / 6.10 / 7.04 : xfce4-terminal vulnerability (USN-497-1)

High Nessus Plugin ID 28100

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.

Lasse Karkkainen discovered that the Xfce Terminal did not correctly escape shell meta-characters during 'Open Link' actions. If a remote attacker tricked a user into opening a specially crafted URI, they could execute arbitrary commands with the user's privileges.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Update the affected xfce4-terminal package.
