New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.

SynopsisThe remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security-related patches.
DescriptionAlex Solovey discovered that mod_perl did not correctly validate certain regular expression matches. A remote attacker could send a specially crafted request to a web application using mod_perl, causing the web server to monopolize CPU resources. This could lead to a remote denial of service.
Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
SolutionUpdate the affected libapache2-mod-perl2, libapache2-mod-perl2-dev and / or libapache2-mod-perl2-doc packages.
