Next.js Framework React Server Components DoS (CVE-2025-55184)

high Nessus Plugin ID 279414

Synopsis

The Next.js Framework on the remote host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The Next.js Framework on the remote host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability:

- A pre-authentication denial of service vulnerability exists in React Server Components versions 19.0.0, 19.0.1 19.1.0, 19.1.1, 19.1.2, 19.2.0 and 19.2.1, including the following packages: react-server-dom-parcel, react-server-dom-turbopack, and react-server-dom-webpack. The vulnerable code unsafely deserializes payloads from HTTP requests to Server Function endpoints, which can cause an infinite loop that hangs the server process and may prevent future HTTP requests from being served. (CVE-2025-55184)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Next.js Framework version 14.2.35, 15.0.7, 15.1.11, 15.2.8, 15.3.8, 15.4.10, 15.5.9, 15.6.0-canary.60, 16.0.10, 16.1.0-canary.19 or later.
