high Nessus Plugin ID 279228

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 8.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2011-51 advisory.

- Mozilla Firefox before 8.0 and Thunderbird before 8.0 on Mac OS X do not properly interact with the GPU memory behavior of a certain driver for Intel integrated GPUs, which allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy and read image data via vectors related to WebGL textures. (CVE-2011-3653)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox version 8.0 or later.
