Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 3.0.15. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2009-55 advisory.

- Mozilla Firefox before 3.0.15 and 3.5.x before 3.5.4, and SeaMonkey before 2.0, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted regular expression in a Proxy Auto-configuration (PAC) file.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox version 3.0.15 or later.
