Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 3.0.16. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2009-68 advisory.

- Mozilla Firefox before 3.0.16 and 3.5.x before 3.5.6, and SeaMonkey before 2.0.1, allows remote attackers to send authenticated requests to arbitrary applications by replaying the NTLM credentials of a browser user. (CVE-2009-3983)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox version 3.0.16 or later.
