Mozilla Firefox < 2.0.0.8

medium Nessus Plugin ID 279206

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 2.0.0.8. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2007-33 advisory.

- Mozilla Firefox before 2.0.0.8 and SeaMonkey before 1.1.5 can hide the window's titlebar when displaying XUL markup language documents, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct phishing and spoofing attacks by setting the hidechrome attribute. (CVE-2007-5334)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox version 2.0.0.8 or later.
