Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 3.6.9. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2010-63 advisory.

- Mozilla Firefox before 3.5.12 and 3.6.x before 3.6.9, Thunderbird before 3.0.7 and 3.1.x before 3.1.3, and SeaMonkey before 2.0.7 do not properly restrict read access to the statusText property of XMLHttpRequest objects, which allows remote attackers to discover the existence of intranet web servers via cross-origin requests. (CVE-2010-2764)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox version 3.6.9 or later.
