Mozilla Thunderbird < 16.0

medium Nessus Plugin ID 279146

Synopsis

A mail client installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Thunderbird installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 16.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2012-75 advisory.

- Mozilla Firefox before 16.0, Thunderbird before 16.0, and SeaMonkey before 2.13 do not properly handle navigation away from a web page that has a SELECT element's menu active, which allows remote attackers to spoof page content via vectors involving absolute positioning and scrolling. (CVE-2012-3984)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Thunderbird version 16.0 or later.
