Synopsis

A mail client installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Thunderbird installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 10.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2012-06 advisory.

- Mozilla Firefox 4.x through 9.0, Thunderbird 5.0 through 9.0, and SeaMonkey before 2.7 do not properly initialize data for image/vnd.microsoft.icon images, which allows remote attackers to obtain potentially sensitive information by reading a PNG image that was created through conversion from an ICO image.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Upgrade to Mozilla Thunderbird version 10.0 or later.
