New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.

SynopsisThe remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security-related patches.
DescriptionMark Dowd discovered an off-by-one buffer overflow in the mod_rewrite module's ldap scheme handling. On systems which activate 'RewriteEngine on', a remote attacker could exploit certain rewrite rules to crash Apache, or potentially even execute arbitrary code (this has not been verified).
'RewriteEngine on' is disabled by default. Systems which have this directive disabled are not affected at all.
Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
