Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a XSS vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM WebSphere Application Server running on the remote host is affected by a XSS vulnerability as referenced in the 7254078 advisory.

- IBM WebSphere Application Server 8.5, 9.0 and IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty 17.0.0.3 through 25.0.0.12 are affected by cross-site scripting due to improper validation of user-supplied input. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by using a specially crafted URL to redirect the user to a malicious site. (CVE-2025-12635)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.29, 9.0.5.27, 26.0.0.1 Liberty or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH68243 / PH68817.
