Google Chrome < 66.0.3359.139 Vulnerability

high Nessus Plugin ID 275881

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 66.0.3359.139. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 2018_04_stable-channel-update-for-desktop_26 advisory.

- A double-eviction in the Incognito mode cache that lead to a user-after-free in cache in Google Chrome prior to 66.0.3359.139 allowed a remote attacker who had compromised the renderer process to execute arbitrary code via a crafted HTML page. (CVE-2018-6118)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Google Chrome version 66.0.3359.139 or later.
