Unity Linux 20.1070a Security Update: kernel (UTSA-2025-988851)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 272905

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2025-988851 advisory.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

powerpc/32: Fix hardlockup on vmap stack overflow

Since the commit c118c7303ad5 (powerpc/32: Fix vmap stack - Do not activate MMU before reading task struct) a vmap stack overflow results in a hard lockup. This is because emergency_ctx is still addressed with its virtual address allthough data MMU is not active anymore at that time.

Fix it by using a physical address instead.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected kernel package.
