Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 22.04 LTS / 24.04 LTS / 25.04 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-7852-1 advisory.

 It was discovered that libxslt, used by libxml2, incorrectly handled certain attributes. An attacker could use this issue to cause a crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.
 This update adds a fix to libxml2 to mitigate the libxslt vulnerability.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
