Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS / 18.04 LTS / 20.04 LTS / 22.04 LTS / 24.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-7839-1 advisory.

 Damien Tournoud, Patrick Dawkins, Vince Parker, and Jules Duvivier discovered that Go Cryptography incorrectly handled public keys during SSH operations. An attacker could possibly use this issue to bypass authorization mechanisms.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected golang-go.crypto-dev and / or golang-golang-x-crypto-dev packages.
