Synopsis

The remote EulerOS host is missing multiple security updates.

Description

According to the versions of the grub2 packages installed, the EulerOS installation on the remote host is affected by the following vulnerabilities :

 GNU GRUB (aka GRUB2) through 2.12 has a heap-based buffer overflow in fs/hfs.c via crafted sblock data in an HFS filesystem.(CVE-2024-56737)

 GNU GRUB (aka GRUB2) through 2.12 does not use a constant-time algorithm for grub_crypto_memcmp and thus allows side-channel attacks.(CVE-2024-56738)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the EulerOS grub2 security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected grub2 packages.
