Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Elasticsearch installed on the remote host is prior to 8.18.8, 8.19.5, 9.0.8, or 9.1.5. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ESA-2025-18 advisory.

 - Insertion of sensitive information in log file in Elasticsearch can lead to loss of confidentiality under specific preconditions when auditing requests to the reindex API. (CVE-2025-37727)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Elasticsearch version 8.18.8, 8.19.5, 9.0.8, or 9.1.5 or later as appropriate for your release branch.
