Unity Linux 20.1050e / 20.1060e / 20.1070e Security Update: libxml2 (UTSA-2025-986104)

low Nessus Plugin ID 269188

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2025-986104 advisory.

A flaw was found in the interactive shell of the xmllint command-line tool, used for parsing XML files.
When a user inputs an overly long command, the program does not check the input size properly, which can cause it to crash. This issue might allow attackers to run harmful code in rare configurations without modern protections.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libxml2 package.
