Unity Linux 20.1050e / 20.1060e / 20.1070e Security Update: gdk-pixbuf2 (UTSA-2025-984802)

low Nessus Plugin ID 266746

Synopsis

The Unity Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The Unity Linux 20 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the UTSA-2025-984802 advisory.

A flaw was found in the GIF parser of GdkPixbufs LZW decoder. When an invalid symbol is encountered during decompression, the decoder sets the reported output size to the full buffer length rather than the actual number of written bytes. This logic error results in uninitialized sections of the buffer being included in the output, potentially leaking arbitrary memory contents in the processed image.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Unity Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected gdk-pixbuf2 package.
