Description

The version of HP Support Assistant installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 9.47.41.0. It is, therefore, might be affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability as referenced in HPSBGN04053 advisoty:

 - A potential security vulnerability has been identified in the HP Support Assistant for versions prior to 9.47.41.0. The vulnerability could potentially allow a local attacker to escalate privileges via an arbitrary file write. (CVE-2025-10578)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to HP Support Assistant version 9.47.41.0 or later.
