Mattermost Server 10.5.x < 10.5.10 / 10.9.x < 10.9.5 / 10.10.x < 10.10.2 / 10.11.0 URL Redirection (MMSA-2025-00509)

high Nessus Plugin ID 266220

Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Mattermost Server installed on the remote host is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the MMSA-2025-00509 advisory.

- Mattermost versions 10.10.x <= 10.10.1, 10.5.x <= 10.5.9, 10.9.x <= 10.9.4 fail to validate the redirect_to parameter, allowing an attacker to craft a malicious link that, once a user authenticates with their SAML provider, could post the user’s cookies to an attacker-controlled URL. (CVE-2025-9072)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mattermost Server version 10.5.10 / 10.9.5 / 10.10.2 / 10.11.0 or later.
