Synopsis

The remote Windows host has an application installed which is affected by a deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability.

Description

The Greenshot installation on the remote Windows host is prior to 1.3.301. It is, therefore, affected by a deserialization of untrusted data vulnerability:

- Greenshot 1.3.300 and earlier deserializes attacker-controlled data received in a WM_COPYDATA message using BinaryFormatter.Deserialize without prior validation or authentication, allowing a local process at the same integrity level to trigger arbitrary code execution inside the Greenshot process. (CVE-2025-59050)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Greenshot version 1.3.301 or later.
