Synopsis

The remote web application server is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The version of IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty running on the remote host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability as referenced in the 7242086 advisory:

 - IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty 18.0.0.2 through 25.0.0.8 is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by sending a specially-crafted request. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the server to consume memory resources. (CVE-2025-36047)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty version 25.0.0.8 or later. Alternatively, upgrade to the minimal fix pack levels required by the interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH66953.
