Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Kibana running on the remote host is prior to 9.0 prior to 9.0.6 or 9.1 prior to 9.1.3. It is, therefore, a vulnerability as referenced in the ESA-2025-13 advisory.

 - Incorrect authorization in Kibana can lead to privilege escalation via the built-in reporting_user role which incorrectly has the ability to access all Kibana Spaces. (CVE-2025-25010)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Kibana version 9.0.6, or 9.1.3 or later.
